Coastal IVF’s Peter Jackson appointed as Adjunct Senior Lecturer at University of Sunshine Coast

19 October 2014

In 2013 Peter Jackson, Coastal IVF’s Director of Embryology, played an integral role in establishing a Clinical Embryology course within the Biomedical degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast. As an introductory course, the subject ran as a Special Research Project over the 2013/14 summer semester with Peter running lectures and practical components daily over a three week period. In 2014, the course has been added to the curriculum as a university course in it’s own right and Peter has been appointed as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University.

The course introduces students to the application of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) used by in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) laboratories throughout the world and requires students to demonstrate knowledge of human reproduction; molecular genetics in clinical embryology; regulation, ethics and quality management of ART; early reproductive events and ART; assessment of embryo quality; and cryopreservation.

Peter’s involvement in the development and continued support of the program is yet another example of Coastal IVF staff bringing cutting-edge IVF knowledge and capability to the Sunshine Coast.
